Primary Responsibilities

In the role of North Dakota Bridge Lead, we'll count on you to:

* Drive business development efforts within North Dakota, including involvement in marketing planning, proposals and interviews

* Establish client relationships and lead marketing of new and existing clients

* Prepare/Review scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals. Monitor changes in codes, regulations and client standards.

* Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities

* See that Bridge work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system

* Be responsible for preparing/reviewing the project budgets for the Bridge design section and tracking budget status.

* Monitor scope of work and scope changes.

* Facilitate and encourage coordination with other discipline groups.

* Implement any changes in the Bridge design standards, procedures, and deliverables.

* Perform quality control reviews of Bridge design projects.

* Supervise junior engineers and/or EITs

* Manage the technical and operational activities of the Bridge design section and serve as a task/discipline lead on key projects.

* Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects

* Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, interchange design and structural rehabilitation design for highway and railway projects

* Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering

* 10+ years bridge design experience in new design and rehabilitation

* PE in North Dakota or ability to obtain within six months of hire

* Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, GEOPAK, AutoCAD and MicroStation

* Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software

* Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams

* Project management skills desirable

* Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects

* Excellent marketing and business development skills.

* Experience managing staff, clients and contracts

* Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff

* Strong organizational, listening and mentoring skills.

* Ability to handle multiple assignments.

* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Structural Engineering

* SE

* Ability to become license as a PE in other US states' jurisdictions, through the NCEES or similar is preferred.

* Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge

* Preference given to local candidates
